FPC Diesel Fuel Additive Study
The most comprehensive study ever conducted on FPC, if not any fuel additive, is the University of Western Australia (UWA) Scientific Study conducted at the UWA Centre for Energy by world-renowned expert in the field of combustion, Professor Dongke Zhang.
The four-year study was predominantly funded by the Australia Research Council, with Professor Zhang and his associates commissioned to investigate the potential of FPC in reducing the carbon footprint of Australian industries.
Results released by the UWA Centre for Energy provided further evidence of significant reductions in exhaust particulates by up to 39%, reduced carbon monoxide emissions by 22% and reduced unburnt hydrocarbons by 15% being obtained through the application of FPC.
A reduction in fuel consumption in the region of 2.4% to 4.2% at variable loads following the introduction of FPC to diesel fuel was also realised. As these tests were conducted on an as-new engine under controlled conditions, greater savings can be expected in the field.
Fuel Technology continues to subject FPC to independent scientific testing.
With ongoing changes and improvements to diesel engines, the diesel additive study results show that regardless of the age, size or type of engine, or the varying fuel specifications, as FPC acts upon the combustion process, a reduction in fuel consumption and emissions will always be realised.
